Pannon Tokaj Winery

Pannon Tokaj Ltd. founded its holdings in 2000. The wholly Hungarian-owned family winery started as a small hobby estate. Thanks to the maximalism and dedication of the owner, the vineyard area swelled to today's 22 hectares, which already produces a commercial amount of wine.

Our vineyards range in age from 5 to 30 years. Two-thirds of the area has been newly planted with modern vine spacing, featuring 5,200 vines per hectare. The remaining one-third has undergone vineyard renewal.

As the vineyard expanded, we continuously upgraded our winemaking technology. Our processing facility, established as a greenfield investment in the heart of Tolcsva, meets the most modern technological standards. Today, we can confidently say that all the conditions are in place for crafting exceptional Tokaji wines.

We cultivate the three most significant grape varieties of the Tokaj wine region. Furmint represents over 30% of our vineyards, while Hárslevelű and the newly bearing Sárgamuskotály each make up about 30%. An additional 10% is planted with the Zéta variety. These vineyards are located in some of the most renowned vineyard sites in Tolcsva—Kincsem, Rány, and Budaházi—as well as in the nearby area of Sárazsadány.

According to Tokaj wine law, Aszú wines must be aged and stored for three years in advance, allowing them to retain and even increase in value. Our ability to grow in the market is inherently tied to the advance accumulation of such reserves.

With an inventory of approximately 250,000 bottles, we are well-positioned to supply both European markets and our steadily growing Far Eastern export business.

Ádám Horváth – Viticulturist, Winery Manager (Tolcsva)
I was born and raised in Tokaj-Hegyalja, where grape growing and winemaking were a natural part of daily life from an early age. Several generations of my family worked at the viticultural research institute in Tarcal, where I gained hands-on experience in both viticulture and winemaking. I was also actively involved in tending our family’s own small vineyards.
Since returning to the region in 2014, I’ve worked continuously in the field—gaining experience in vineyard management, harvest operations, and cellar technology. I studied viticulture and oenology at Eszterházy Károly University (2016–2018), and I’m currently completing my BSc degree in viticulture and oenology at Tokaj-Hegyalja University.
In my work, I place strong emphasis on ecological awareness, precise technology, and careful, site-specific decision-making. My goal is to make the most of what our unique terroir offers—both in the vineyard and in the bottle.

Barnabás Radics – Head Winemaker
My passion for viticulture and winemaking began in childhood, growing up among my father’s and grandfather’s vineyards and cellars in the Somló wine region. I graduated in 1998 as a certified winemaker from the Soós István School of Winemaking, before briefly exploring another path and earning a degree in metallurgical engineering at the University of Miskolc.
While studying in Miskolc, I returned to my roots in 2004 by taking a cellar management position in Tállya, in the Tokaj region. Since January 2005, I’ve served as head winemaker at Pannon Tokaj, while also working with a prestigious Tokaji winery. In 2019, I earned my postgraduate degree as a specialist in viticulture and enology.
